Can patients with kidney stones drink alcohol?
Disease description:
Recently, I was diagnosed with kidney stones. However, my friend will be returning from Shanghai in a few days, and we’ll definitely have dinner and drinks together. May I ask: Is it safe to drink alcohol if I have kidney stones?
Kidney stones: It is advisable to reduce alcohol consumption, and ideally avoid it altogether. Patients with kidney stones must undergo active treatment based on the severity of their condition. For larger stones, surgical intervention may be necessary; for milder cases, conservative management is often appropriate—this includes drinking plenty of water, consuming ample fresh vegetables and fruits, and engaging in regular physical activity.
