How is chronic gastritis treated?
Disease description:
I have previously been diagnosed with a gastric disorder. Recently, my eating habits have been irregular, causing frequent flare-ups of my gastric symptoms over the past two days. How should chronic gastritis be treated?
The patient has chronic gastritis, and the current epigastric pain has worsened; therefore, peptic ulcer disease must be ruled out. We recommend performing gastroscopy and a ¹³C-urea breath test to determine whether *Helicobacter pylori* infection is present. Proton pump inhibitors—such as esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules—may be prescribed to suppress gastric acid secretion. If pain is severe, analgesics may be added for symptomatic relief. The patient should maintain a healthy diet: avoid spicy foods and abstain from smoking and alcohol.
