What are the causes of luteinized unruptured follicle (LUF) syndrome?
Disease description:
A friend was diagnosed with luteinized unruptured follicle (LUF) syndrome. Is this condition serious? What are the causes of LUF syndrome?
There are many causes of follicular luteinization. The primary cause is central dysfunction of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), leading to secretory follicular luteinization. This condition is also known as the “unruptured follicle syndrome” or “luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome (LUFS),” wherein a mature follicle fails to rupture due to various underlying etiologies, thereby preventing normal ovulation and resulting in infertility. However, women need not worry—luteinized unruptured follicles are treatable. Identifying the underlying cause and administering targeted therapy significantly improves the chances of conception.
