Is it safe to have sexual intercourse during pregnancy?
Disease description:
My wife is currently pregnant. May I ask whether sexual intercourse is permissible during pregnancy?
Sexual intercourse may be appropriate during pregnancy; however, it should be avoided during the first trimester (first three months) and the third trimester (last three months). Pregnant women with placenta previa or a history of recurrent miscarriage should abstain from sexual activity throughout the entire pregnancy. Sexual activity should not be overly frequent, and attention must be paid to personal hygiene and the development of good hygienic habits. Inappropriate sexual activity may increase the risk of miscarriage or preterm birth. During pregnancy, adequate rest and regular prenatal check-ups are essential.
