What is the normal blood glucose range?
Disease description:
During my examination, the doctor informed me that my blood glucose level is elevated and advised me to undergo regular follow-up testing. I would like to know the normal range for blood glucose levels.
Fasting blood glucose levels typically range between 3–6 mmol/L. After a meal, blood glucose gradually rises, peaking approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour postprandially, then gradually declines. Normal blood glucose levels at 2 hours after a meal generally fall within the range of 3–7.8 mmol/L. If the 2-hour postprandial blood glucose level is elevated but remains below 11.1 mmol/L, this indicates impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). In such cases, dietary control is essential; otherwise, there is an increased risk of developing diabetes.
