Can scabies be cured?
Disease description:
Recently, several small bumps have appeared on my skin, accompanied by mild itching upon touch. My doctor diagnosed it as scabies. I would like to know whether scabies can be cured.
Scabies is a completely curable condition. Once diagnosed clinically, treatment—under a physician’s guidance—typically involves topical medications to relieve itching and eliminate the mites. Commonly used agents include salicylic acid ointment and benzyl benzoate emulsion. For pregnant and lactating women, topical crotamiton cream is a safe and effective option. In cases of severe pruritus, oral antihistamines—such as loratadine—may be prescribed.
