In general, there is no strict age limit for orthodontic treatment with braces. However, the optimal time to begin orthodontic treatment is typically after all primary (deciduous) teeth have been replaced by permanent teeth—around ages 12 to 13. This period is considered ideal for orthodontic correction. Clinically, the decision to recommend braces is not based solely on the patient’s age, but rather on an individual assessment of their dental condition and whether orthodontic intervention is necessary.
