Facial paralysis is categorized into peripheral facial paralysis and central facial paralysis. 1. Peripheral facial paralysis: Patients typically exhibit inability to frown, impaired eye closure, difficulty baring teeth, facial numbness, loss of taste, dry mouth, dry eyes, and deviation of the mouth corner toward the unaffected side. 2. Central facial paralysis: Involves drooping and deviation of the mouth corner, difficulty baring teeth, impaired frowning, gait instability (e.g., swaying while walking), and unsteady object handling; it may also be accompanied by limb numbness.
