What Is Acute Mastitis?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve frequently experienced breast pain, and after visiting the hospital for evaluation, I was diagnosed with acute mastitis. What is acute mastitis?
Acute mastitis is an acute suppurative infection of the mammary gland, primarily involving acute inflammation of the lactiferous ducts and the surrounding connective tissue of the breast. This condition most commonly occurs in lactating women, typically presenting with an abrupt onset and severe symptoms. At onset, patients often experience localized breast pain, erythema, and swelling; systemic symptoms such as fever may also occur.
