What is acute polyneuritis?
Disease description:
I sometimes experience numbness and excessive sweating. My colleagues suspect it might be acute polyneuritis. What is acute polyneuritis?
Acute polyneuritis, clinically referred to as acute polyneuropathy, is primarily caused by infectious factors, endocrine disorders, nutritional deficiencies, and other etiologies. It leads to damage of the peripheral nerves, commonly resulting in abnormalities of sensory, motor, and autonomic nervous system functions. Symptoms may include paresthesia (e.g., needle-like or burning sensations) in the distal extremities; some patients may exhibit hypotonia or hyperhidrosis.
