How to Remove Keloid Scars
Disease description:
I previously sustained an injury, which left me with raised (keloidal) scars on my skin. I would like to remove them—how can raised scars be treated?
To remove keloid scars, treatment options can be selected based on their severity. If the keloid is mild and not very prominent, pharmacological therapy may be chosen; commonly used medications include interferon, triamcinolone acetonide, mitomycin C, and botulinum toxin type A. For more pronounced keloid scars, clinical practice typically recommends surgical excision or laser therapy.
