Blackish vaginal discharge during menstruation in women may be a normal phenomenon, primarily because menstrual blood contains a large amount of endometrial tissue; when mixed with blood, it can appear black—this is considered a normal physiological occurrence. However, if the patient experiences dysmenorrhea or impaired menstrual flow, it may indicate menstrual irregularity—for example, cold exposure to the abdomen causing blood stasis and subsequent menstrual disturbance.
