What does it mean when menstrual blood appears black?
Disease description:
I’ve been menstruating for two days now, and since the first day, my menstrual discharge has been black. What could be causing this?
Blackish vaginal discharge during menstruation in women may be a normal physiological phenomenon, primarily due to the presence of large amounts of endometrial tissue in menstrual blood; when mixed with blood, this tissue can cause the discharge to appear black. However, if the patient experiences dysmenorrhea or impaired menstrual flow, it may indicate menstrual irregularity—for example, cold exposure to the abdomen leading to blood stasis and impaired menstrual flow.
