What should I do for allergic swelling?
Disease description:
My son is 17 years old. He recently had an allergic reaction, but over the past few days, he has felt somewhat swollen. I’d like to know how to manage swelling caused by allergies.
In cases of severe skin allergy with swelling and intense pruritus, oral antihistamines may be administered, along with systemic glucocorticoid therapy—such as dexamethasone injection or betamethasone injection—to achieve marked clinical improvement. Intramuscular injection of compound betamethasone injection is also an option. Topically, wet compresses with boric acid solution may be applied; alternatively, chitosan solution or collagen biofilm may be used. During treatment, patients are advised to follow a light, bland diet and avoid spicy or irritating foods.
