Efficacy and Effects of Prednisone Tablets
Disease description:
Due to my diabetes, my doctor prescribed me prednisone tablets. I would like to know: what are the effects and functions of prednisone tablets?
Prednisone tablets, a glucocorticoid medication, exert multiple therapeutic effects. They possess potent anti-inflammatory properties, effectively reducing inflammatory responses and tissue damage, and demonstrate significant efficacy in treating various inflammatory conditions—including allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, and allergic dermatitis. Prednisone tablets also exhibit antiallergic activity by inhibiting the synthesis and release of histamine during allergic reactions, thereby alleviating allergic symptoms. Additionally, they exert immunosuppressive effects by dampening the immune system’s response to disease, thus mitigating both inflammation and allergic reactions. Prednisone tablets are indicated for the treatment of numerous disorders, including—but not limited to—hypersensitivity disorders, rheumatic diseases, hematologic conditions, and dermatologic diseases. However, because prednisone tablets may cause adverse effects such as elevated blood pressure and blood glucose levels, increased susceptibility to infections, and induction of osteoporosis, they must be used only under the supervision of a physician.
