How is a vascular nevus treated?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve developed some dark-red small red spots on my hands. After seeing a doctor, I was diagnosed with cherry angiomas. How should they be treated?
Patients with vascular nevi may, under a physician’s guidance, use certain glucocorticoid medications for treatment; prednisone is commonly prescribed and can help slow disease progression. Alternatively, patients may receive intralesional injections of bleomycin or pingyangmycin at a hospital to effectively suppress epidermal cell proliferation and thereby promote regression of the vascular nevus. Additionally, hospital-based treatments—including laser therapy, cryotherapy, or surgical excision—may also be considered.
