The sole of the foot was bitten by a mosquito; calamine lotion can be applied promptly. Calamine lotion has antipruritic and astringent effects. Itching on the sole after a mosquito bite occurs because the mosquito’s venom penetrates the skin, triggering an allergic reaction. Mosquito bites typically manifest as erythematous macules, papules, wheals, and occasionally vesicles. When itching is severe, oral antipruritic medications—such as cetirizine, chlorpheniramine, or ebastine—may be used concurrently.
