Itching and pain on the soles of the feet may be caused by tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), a fungal infection. You can apply an antipruritic topical ointment—such as miconazole nitrate cream—to the affected area. Additionally, ibuprofen may be taken to relieve pain. In daily life, wash your feet regularly and wear well-ventilated footwear. However, these symptoms may also stem from other causes, such as tinea pedis or dermatophyte infections.
