How are multiple small nodules in both lungs treated?
Disease description:
I undergo a CT scan every three months; however, this time the examination revealed small pulmonary nodules. How should multiple small nodules in both lungs be treated?
Multiple small pulmonary nodules in both lungs can be treated with medications and/or surgical interventions. First, the underlying cause of the bilateral pulmonary nodules must be clearly identified. If the nodules result from inflammatory or infectious processes, anti-infective therapy is required; if caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, antituberculous treatment is necessary. For small nodules arising from pulmonary tumors, surgical intervention is typically indicated.
