Is psoriasis contagious to others?
Disease description:
I have developed psoriasis on my arm. I’m not very familiar with this condition—could you please tell me whether psoriasis is contagious to others?
Psoriasis is generally not contagious. It is a non-infectious skin disorder that lacks pathogenic agents—such as bacteria or fungi—and therefore cannot be transmitted to others. Psoriasis is a hereditary skin condition primarily associated with genetic and immune factors. If one or both parents have psoriasis, their offspring have an increased risk of developing the disease. Additionally, abnormalities in the immune system may also trigger psoriasis.
