In general, mumps does not cause facial stiffness. However, in individuals with compromised immunity, viral infection-induced mumps may lead to localized nerve damage, resulting in facial stiffness. Therefore, if facial stiffness occurs, prompt medical evaluation at a hospital is essential. If the condition is caused by viral mumps, antiviral medications such as ribavirin granules and oryzanol tablets may be prescribed under a physician’s guidance. Adjunctive therapies, including acupuncture, may also be considered.
