Whether oseltamivir is effective for mumps depends on the underlying cause. If mumps is caused by a viral infection, taking oseltamivir phosphate capsules may be effective, as this drug is an antiviral agent that can effectively inhibit viral replication and help control disease progression. However, if mumps results from a bacterial infection, oseltamivir is ineffective; in such cases, antibiotics—such as amoxicillin capsules—are recommended.
