Hello, wisdom teeth do not necessarily need to be extracted. If a wisdom tooth erupts healthily—without any pathology and without posing a threat to other teeth in the mouth—it may be retained. However, if the wisdom tooth is malpositioned or impacted, it is highly prone to pericoronitis and may also contribute to decay of adjacent teeth; in such cases, extraction is recommended. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
