What should I do if my tooth hurts but has no cavity?
Disease description:
Severe toothache, but no dental caries—teeth have no cavities yet still hurt. What should I do?
The patient is advised to visit the Department of Stomatology for examination and treatment. To assess the root surface or interproximal surfaces of the teeth, the dentist must use a periodontal probe. If the dental pulp (nerve) is involved, pain may occur, potentially necessitating root canal therapy. Alternatively, the pain may stem from redness and swelling of the gingiva surrounding the teeth; in such cases, local irrigation and topical medication are recommended. The patient is advised to maintain good oral hygiene to prevent oral diseases.
