What Are the Symptoms of Knee Periostitis?
Disease description:
I’ve recently experienced swelling and pain in my knee joint—could this be periostitis of the knee joint? What are the symptoms of knee joint periostitis?
Periostitis of the knee joint may present with subtle or even absent symptoms in its early stages. Patients often remain asymptomatic during daily activities but experience pain in the middle-to-lower portion of the calf after physical exertion. As the condition progresses, knee pain and swelling may develop, along with activity-related discomfort—such as during squatting, rising from a squat, running, or jumping. Typically, symptoms improve with rest but worsen with activity; in severe cases, intense pain may significantly impair normal standing and ambulation.
