Differences Between Poliomyelitis and Cerebral Palsy

There are differences between the two conditions in terms of affected anatomical sites and underlying causes. Currently, neither condition can be effectively treated with existing medical interventions. In the former condition, associated complications—such as foot deformity—can be managed with orthotic devices; however, complete recovery is not possible. Nevertheless, prevention of this disease is relatively effective: vaccination should begin immediately after birth, and bone marrow transplantation is also a viable option today. Cerebral palsy primarily results from brain injury. Patients with this condition often exhibit intellectual impairment and impaired motor function, as the brain serves as the central control organ for the entire body.
