Can patients with suppurative tonsillitis eat crayfish?
Disease description:
I usually enjoy eating crayfish, but I’ve just been diagnosed with suppurative tonsillitis. Can I eat crayfish while having suppurative tonsillitis?
Patients with suppurative tonsillitis should generally avoid eating crayfish, as crayfish is considered a “heat-inducing” food in traditional Chinese medicine. Consumption may exacerbate symptoms of tonsillitis and hinder recovery. Once diagnosed with tonsillitis, patients must adjust their diet accordingly—avoiding highly stimulating or excessively spicy foods.
