Initial Symptoms of Psoriasis
Disease description:
I’ve developed several white patches on my body, and I suspect I might have psoriasis. Could you please tell me what the early symptoms of psoriasis are?
Hello, psoriasis—also known as “psoriasis vulgaris” or “scaly skin disease”—typically presents in its early stage with skin rashes. These rashes are usually erythematous (red), vary in size—ranging from millet-grain-sized to soybean- or mung-bean-sized—and appear scattered across the body. The lesions are vividly red and characteristically exhibit thick, silvery-white scaling overlying the erythematous plaques. Occasionally, patients may experience mild pruritus (itching).
