Painful perianal skin tags may result from an acute episode of thrombosed external hemorrhoids; however, anal fissures or perianal abscesses should also be considered. Prolonged sitting or constipation in daily life can increase intra-abdominal pressure, potentially leading to the formation of perianal skin tags. Surgical intervention—such as incision and drainage—may be required when necessary.
