Disease description:

I went to the seaside for a trip and enjoyed a lavish seafood meal. After returning home, my face started itching intensely—I didn’t dare scratch it for fear of scarring—and my face also became slightly swollen. What should I do about allergic swelling?

If skin allergy and swelling occur, cold compresses can be used for treatment. Cold application causes vasoconstriction of capillaries in the affected skin, thereby reducing nerve sensitivity, alleviating local hyperemia, and relieving redness and swelling. Simultaneously, the allergen (i.e., the substance triggering the hypersensitivity reaction) should be promptly identified and avoided. In cases where the specific allergen remains unidentified, exposure to potential allergens should be minimized to prevent allergic skin reactions and reduce local skin swelling.
