Itching inside the ear requires medical treatment. External otitis eczema commonly occurs in individuals with allergic constitutions and is characterized by recurrent pruritus, skin rashes on the auricle or external auditory canal, and yellowish discharge from the ear. Topical corticosteroid ointments—such as halometasone—may be used; in severe cases, oral antihistamines—such as loratadine—may be prescribed. In daily life, avoid spicy or irritating foods, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Do not insert objects into the ear canal, avoid water exposure, and keep the external auditory canal dry.
