Hello, if the patient’s nails have turned black, they may very likely have onychomycosis (fungal nail infection). Onychomycosis is caused by pathogenic fungal microorganisms. Typically, only one fingernail or toenail is affected initially; however, without timely treatment, the infection may spread to other fingers and toes. Developing onychomycosis is often closely related to one’s occupation and living environment—prolonged exposure to warm, humid conditions significantly increases the risk. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
