Can rhinitis also cause tearing?

Rhinitis can cause patients to tear. The nose and eyes are anatomically connected; thus, recurrent or severe infections may spread to the eyes, leading to ocular inflammation and subsequent tearing. Saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigators may also be used to cleanse the nasal passages and alleviate symptoms. Additionally, patients should get adequate rest, avoid staying up late, refrain from overexertion, and avoid spicy or irritating foods.
