Symptoms of Chronic Gastric Perforation
Disease description:
My abdominal pain was so severe that I couldn’t even muster the strength to turn over, so I immediately called 120. Later, I was diagnosed with chronic gastric perforation. What are the symptoms of chronic gastric perforation?
Symptoms of chronic gastric perforation include abdominal pain, among others. Gastric ulcers are the primary cause of chronic gastric perforation; in some patients, frequent overeating and binge drinking lead to increased gastric acid and pepsin secretion, ultimately resulting in gastric perforation. Patients typically experience sudden, severe abdominal pain. The pain initially localizes to the abdomen and then radiates to the shoulder, often described as sharp or aching. If the condition progresses to a severe stage—such as complicated by generalized peritonitis (e.g., due to bacterial infection) or septic shock—systemic toxicity and shock may occur.
