There are numerous potential causes of upper-body pruritus (itching). Common causes include allergic reactions—for instance, exposure to allergens such as pollen, dust, or house dust mites, or ingestion of allergenic foods—leading to cutaneous allergic responses and subsequent pruritus. Additionally, skin conditions such as papules, eczema, or miliaria (heat rash) can also cause itching.
