What should I do if I experience bleeding while taking Yasmine?
Disease description:
I am taking Yasmin for contraception, but I’ve noticed light vaginal bleeding. What should I do about the bleeding while taking Yasmin?
Yasmin is a short-acting oral contraceptive. One possible side effect is irregular vaginal bleeding, which results from hormonal fluctuations. If the bleeding is light, continue taking Yasmin for three to five days; the bleeding typically resolves during this time. If bleeding persists beyond five days, you may increase the dose by half a tablet—bleeding usually stops thereafter. However, if the bleeding is heavy, seek medical attention promptly, as hemostatic medications (e.g., Yunnan Baiyao) may be required.
