Scabies is generally treatable. It is caused by parasitic mites living on the surface of human skin. Scabies can be treated with anti-parasitic medications as directed by a physician, such as sulfur ointment, clove basil ointment, or lindane lotion. It is best to take a hot shower before applying medication. During treatment, avoid bathing and do not change clothes. If symptoms such as itching occur, do not scratch directly with your hands to prevent fungal infection.
