How is prostate cancer clinically diagnosed?
Disease description:
I haven't been feeling well, so I went to the small clinic downstairs. The doctor said it might be prostate cancer and advised me to go to a larger hospital for further examination. Could you please tell me how prostate cancer is diagnosed clinically?
Prostate cancer is generally diagnosed clinically based on patient symptoms, physical examination, and imaging studies. Early-stage prostate cancer often lacks specific symptoms and is usually associated with symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, such as frequent urination, urgency, and difficulty in urination. Physical examination primarily involves digital rectal examination to assess whether the prostate has become hardened or shows obvious nodular enlargement. Imaging studies, including ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are used to detect the presence of prostate nodules or masses.
