Autism and intellectual disability are distinctly different. Autism is a psychological disorder characterized by the patient's unwillingness to communicate with the outside world and fear toward external stimuli. Approximately three-quarters of children with autism exhibit明显的 developmental delays in mental functioning, although some children may demonstrate relatively preserved abilities despite an overall intellectual deficit. On the other hand, intellectual disability results from disorders of the central nervous system, leading to markedly reduced responsiveness, inability to communicate normally with others, difficulty understanding everyday matters, and even failure to properly recognize people around them, along with significantly impaired calculation skills.
