What is phimosis in children?
Disease description:
My son is now five years old and has difficulty urinating. The examination shows he has a long foreskin. What does it mean when a child has an overly long foreskin?
The foreskin completely covers the glans penis. If a child's foreskin extends over the urethral opening, the foreskin opening may easily turn inward and grow behind the coronal sulcus of the glans, potentially blocking the urethra. A tight foreskin opening can lead to recurrent balanoposthitis; during acute inflammation, the foreskin opening becomes red, swollen, and may discharge pus. In children over five years old with severe phimosis where the foreskin cannot retract to expose the glans, timely medical consultation is recommended.
