For children with iron deficiency anemia, include lean meat, pork liver, pork blood, and black fungus in their diet. Additionally, supplement with adequate vitamin C to enhance iron absorption. Iron-fortified formula milk and rice cereal can also be given to the child. In cases of severe iron deficiency, oral iron supplements are required; options include iron protein succinate, iron dextran, or pediatric hematinic syrup. Iron supplements should be administered orally after feeding or between feedings, and should not be taken simultaneously with calcium.
