Vitamin D supplementation dosage
Disease description:
The doctor recommended that the child take vitamin D supplements, but I forgot to ask how much. Could you please advise on the appropriate dosage of vitamin D?
For infants and toddlers aged 1–3 years, supplementing with 400 IU of vitamin D daily can effectively prevent vitamin D deficiency rickets. For children aged 3 to 9 years, the daily vitamin D supplementation should be 500 IU. From age 9 to 70, the recommended daily intake is 600 IU, and for adults over 70, it increases to 800 IU per day. While supplementing vitamin D, individuals should also maintain a balanced diet and engage in appropriate physical activity.
