What is abdominal aortic dissection?
Disease description:
Diagnosed with abdominal aortic dissection, but without family history. What causes abdominal aortic dissection?
Abdominal aortic dissection is associated with cystic necrosis of the medial layer. It primarily results from blood flow within the aortic wall causing spasm of the vasa vasorum, leading to ischemic necrosis of the media. This condition is mainly caused by Marfan syndrome, hypertension in pregnant women, and aortic stenosis. During angiography, care should be taken to avoid displacing visceral structures beneath the vessels. Standardized procedures are recommended to prevent the occurrence of this disease.
