Can frozen shoulder cause the arm to feel cold?
Disease description:
I've been experiencing muscle soreness in my body these past couple of days, especially pain in my shoulder. Sometimes the pain is so severe that I dare not move. Someone mentioned it might be shoulder periarthritis, so I'd like to know—can shoulder periarthritis cause the arm to feel cold?
After developing periarthritis, patients may experience arm cooling, as periarthritis easily affects blood circulation in the upper arm, leading to cold sensations and pain in the arm. Since arm muscles originate around the shoulder joint, when periarthritis occurs, adhesions and contractures of the ligaments and joint capsule around the shoulder joint can develop. This causes muscle spasms and edema in the arm, resulting in pain and a feeling of coldness. Therefore, once periarthritis develops, active medical treatment is necessary to restore shoulder joint function and reduce symptoms of arm coldness. Patients are advised to rest adequately, keep their bodies warm, and avoid exposure to cold.
