Disease description:

Stress fractures are very common among athletes and dancers, and some soldiers may develop stress fractures after prolonged high-intensity physical activity. We need to be aware of the symptoms of this condition. The treatment principle is early detection, prompt treatment, and rapid recovery. Then, what is overuse arthritis?

In stress fractures, bone cells are in a state of balance between destruction and growth. Osteoclasts break down bone tissue, while osteoblasts produce new bone. When these two processes are balanced, the bone remains healthy and normal. Aging bone tissue must be removed by osteoclasts before new cells can form and fill in the space. However, if a particular part of the body is frequently used—due to repetitive actions or routine activities—the rate of bone breakdown (aging) in that area exceeds the rate of new bone formation. This imbalance leads to the development of a crack known as a stress fracture.
