What causes a dull ache in the testicles?
Disease description:
Today I suddenly felt a dull pain in my testicle. At first, I didn't pay much attention, but it hurt when I gently shook it. What could cause a dull ache in the testicle?
A dull, persistent pain in the testicle is usually caused by trauma or testicular torsion. After infection with pathogenic microorganisms or physical injury, an inflammatory response occurs in the testicle, leading to redness, swelling, and pain. Some patients may develop scrotal edema, which is clearly noticeable upon touch. If not treated promptly, fever and abscess formation may also occur. Testicular torsion could also be the cause; if the testicle has excessive mobility within the scrotum, it may twist around its axis. This can result in testicular ischemia and cause severe pain.
