Hello, If you notice a slight tilting of the neck, you may initially assume it is due to “sleeping wrong” (acute torticollis). However, further evaluation reveals it is actually caused by spasmodic torticollis—a type of dystonia. This condition primarily manifests as pain in the neck and shoulder region and may also be associated with low mood or depression. Treatment typically involves pharmacotherapy; however, the most effective intervention is deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
