After removal of the cerumen impaction, tinnitus persists, which may be due to incomplete removal or pre-existing tinnitus symptoms. Persistent tinnitus following cerumen removal could be caused by conditions such as sensorineural tinnitus or otitis media. Sensorineural tinnitus involves the auditory nerve, auditory center, or cochlea. Its main feature is that although no external sound is present, the patient constantly perceives sound.
