Earwax impaction can be very painful, but the discomfort can generally be relieved through methods such as ear irrigation or medication. By instilling a cleaning solution into the ear canal, the reverse flow helps flush out earwax or foreign objects until they are completely removed, significantly alleviating the patient's pain. If pain persists after removal of the earwax, the patient should take anti-inflammatory medication under a doctor's guidance and recommendation.
