Is tenosynovitis of the finger flexor tendons serious?
Disease description:
I often do handicrafts, which has led to trigger finger (stenosin tenosynovitis) in my fingers. Is finger flexor tenosynovitis serious?
Stenosing tenosynovitis of the finger flexor tendons is not necessarily serious; the severity depends on the specific symptoms presented by the patient. When stenosing tenosynovitis causes local redness, swelling, and pain, it is generally not severe, and treatment with topical or oral medications is recommended. However, if the patient develops restricted movement or joint stiffness, the condition is considered more serious and may require steroid injection therapy or surgical intervention.
